FIRST EDITION of this work by the successor of Abbé Nollet in the chair of experimental physics at the College of Navarre. Brisson (1723-1806) was also one of Lavoisier's collaborators who supplied him with some of the substances described in this work, as well as the results of some of his weighing experiments. This work remained, until the end of the 19th century, the standard reference for physicists and mineralogists
