Agoudal Meteorite – Iron IIAB – Morocco
The Agoudal meteorites rank among the most remarkable and relatively rare discoveries of the early 21st century. First identified in 2000 in the Moroccan High Atlas, they were officially recognized and classified on April 27, 2013 as iron meteorites of type IIAB, a category prized for its structure and cosmic origin.
This lot comes directly from the Agoudal region, located at an altitude of over 2,000 meters. We personally acquired it during an on-site expedition in March 2026, right in the dispersion zone, guaranteeing authentic and direct traceability.
The fall produced a large quantity of fragments, ranging from a few grams to several kilograms, with a total mass estimated at more than 100 kg. Most specimens appear as irregular chips, generally between 2 and 5 cm in size, and irregular in form. They are often covered with a thin crust of alteration, while some more compact fragments retain a well-developed fusion crust, characteristic of a strong atmospheric passage.
These meteorites offer a rare balance between accessibility and scientific authenticity, while remaining relatively uncommon on the market. Their origin, classification, and collection method make them prized pieces, for both discerning collectors and enthusiasts of extraterrestrial minerals.
