Description from the seller
Memento Mori Series
This work unites an intense anatomical memento mori with refined Rococo decoration attributed to Carlo Innocenzo Carlone.
On a real skull, set in a deep black Baroque frame, the artist paints the “Council of the Gods” and the departure of Juno, Venus and Minerva for the Judgment of Paris, transforming the bony surface into a luminous celestial theater populated by deities, cherubs, and blue skies.
The mythological figures adapt to the shapes of the cranium, creating a strong symbolic contrast: on one side the beauty and eternity of painting, on the other the unavoidable reality of death represented by the skull.
The work perfectly embodies the eighteenth-century taste for elegant macabre, blending artistic splendor with meditation on the fleeting nature of life and human glory.
Giclée on rag collage + certificate of authenticity
Unframed.
“Art is not about representing new things, but about representing them with novelty.”
Slasky is a renowned Italian artist whose works have been exhibited in solo and group shows internationally.
The artist has the ability to fuse classical artworks with techniques of contemporary digital art. With his neo-urban classical style, he combines tradition and modernity, bringing the protagonists of the original artworks into contemporary social and artistic environments.
