Description from the seller
Icon of Comfort: Togo Sofa (2 Seats) – Design by Michel Ducaroy for Ligne Roset
We present at auction an undisputed icon of 20th‑century design: the two‑seat Togo sofa, in a refined powder blue cotton fabric version. Designed by Michel Ducaroy in 1973, the Togo upended traditional furniture canons, introducing a revolutionary aesthetic based on formal freedom and absolute relaxation.
Design and History: The Foam Revolution
The Togo represents the first true “cushion sofa,” an object that marked an era:
Innovative Structure: Its distinctive feature is a core made entirely of differently densified polyurethane foam. This design eliminates any rigid internal framework, highlighting the fluidity of the forms and the iconic quilted stitching.
Color, Material, and Texture: The cotton upholstery in the elegant powder blue tone gives the sofa a contemporary freshness and a natural, tactile appeal. Please refer to the close‑up photos to appreciate more precisely the shade and the weave of the fabric.
Wellness Philosophy: Michel Ducaroy conceived the Togo as furniture capable of naturally adapting to the user’s postures, offering casual elegance that remains an international reference point.
