In this work, SKE openly distorts the emblematic Banksy iconography, a major figure in contemporary street art and a symbol of anonymous, engaged, and subversive art. By adopting the iconic stencil posture and the red heart gesture, the artist replaces the anonymous silhouette with Gaston, the cult character from Franco-Belgian comics.

This shift creates a new reading: Banksy’s militant anonymity confronts Gaston’s assumed innocence. Masked, with a spray can in hand, the character becomes, in turn, a clandestine actor in the urban space, blurring the boundary between popular art, engagement, and mass culture.

The red heart, blazing on the rough wall, retains its universal symbolic charge: love, resistance, freely expressed emotion. Splashes, projections, and textures reinforce the street aesthetic and the illusion of a work born in the street.

Through this détournement, SKE questions the notion of author, signature, and message in contemporary urban art, while paying homage to one of its founding myths.

SKE is a self-taught French artist and a versatile creator who grew up with 80s/90s culture, inspiring the bulk of his artistic works.

He constantly explores new techniques: acrylic painting, collage, stencil, graffiti, urban installations, and digital art. His dynamic and expressive compositions, often with double meanings, blend the raw energy of street art with the visual impact of pop art.

After an exceptional 2025, SKE’s market value has risen notably. Winner of the first prize in the Urban Master contest (2023), then named Revelation of the Year at the Color Jam Challenge (2025). SKE was selected as “Artist of the Month” in October and also featured in an American art magazine, confirming his international recognition.
