The Murano paperweight is an heirloom purchased in Venice in the 1970s. There is no information about the maker.

The design uses the Zanfirico technique (also known as Filigrana), in which fine glass rods are twisted into complex spiral or lattice patterns. The spiraling pink and white ribbons are often referred to as "Ribbon Swirl."
