Description from the seller
Miguel de Miguel – International Plastic Artist*
Miguel is a Spanish plastic artist who began his career in 1980 and has developed a solid and emotionally intense trajectory, recognized worldwide. He has exhibited in cities such as New York, Hong Kong, Paris, Buenos Aires, and Mexico City, and his work is part of some of the world’s most important collections. He currently lives and works in Italy.
His painting combines figure and abstraction with a personal language, where vibrant color, symbolic forms, and deep textures speak of identity, memory, and an inner silence. Faceless figures, symbolic natures, and scenes suspended in time form a poetic and sensitive universe.
With more than four decades of creation, Miguel de Miguel offers a body of work that is not only observed but experienced from the most intimate level. An art that crosses borders, styles, and words.
In this work by Miguel de Miguel, the female figure emerges as a territory of spiritual and emotional transformation. The body seems built from fragments of fire, memory, and liquid matter, while the face preserves an almost ritual serenity. The raised hand introduces a symbolic dimension: a gesture of invocation, resistance, or inner revelation.
The contrast between blazing reds and electric blues creates tension between passion and consciousness, between wound and rebirth. The painting does not describe a fixed identity; it deconstructs it and returns it as energy. As in much of Miguel de Miguel’s work, the human figure becomes a bridge here between the visible and the invisible, between flesh and spirit.
