Lluís Bargalló (1932-2020), Arquitectura Popular, a watercolor on paper, 64 by 54 cm with frame, hand-signed, original edition from the 1980s, depicting urban landscape architecture in hyperrealism, Spain, sold by Galería.
Description from the seller
Lluís Bargalló (1932-2020) - Spanish School - Popular Architecture (Arcades and Stone Arch).
Original watercolor work by the renowned Catalan illustrator and painter Lluís Bargalló, celebrated in his more commercial facet as the historic illustrator of the legendary Scalextric (Exin) or Madelman boxes, but who also pursued a prolific career as a easel painter. This watercolor is a magnificent example of his technical dexterity in the urban landscape genre and rustic architecture. Bargalló masterfully handles the watercolor medium, playing with glazes and the white of the paper to recreate the rustic texture of stone, the play of light and shadow under the arches, and the patina of time on the wooden doors. A work of classic craftsmanship, flawless execution, and a serene tone, ideal for collectors who value the technical mastery of traditional watercolor.
Excellent overall condition. The pigments retain their intensity and clarity, with no trace of oxidation or damage to the paper. It is presented protected by a mat and a classical wooden frame in good condition.
