George Hurrell (1904-1992) - Simon

George Hurrell (1904-1992), American, is the celebrated photographer of Hollywood stars; his portraits of the great figures of American cinema in the 1930s-1940s are icons of film history.
An elegant portrait of the sophisticated French actress Simone Simon (1911-2005) is offered, datable to 1937, in a fine print dating from a period after the gelatin-silver print.
Simone Simon, French, moved to Hollywood at the end of the thirties; she appeared in a total of 40 films, achieving great popular success.
The work is of notable size: image 346x278 mm, with the borders 354x286 mm.
On the back there is the artist's stamp and the stamp of the Marc Allégret Collection (1900-1973), a well-known Swiss director who directed her in three films shot in France. Mounted on a 49x37 cm passe-partout, it is in splendid condition, well preserved in the Allégret Collection.
