Biography: JonOne (French-American, born 1963 in New York) is renowned for graffiti-influenced works and was born in Harlem, where vibrant, elaborate graffiti art thrives. At 17, he and a childhood friend began creating graffiti in his name. In 1984, he founded the Graffiti 156 All Starz collective to bring together graffiti artists’ passion.
After moving to Paris in 1987, he began working as a painter on canvas in a studio. He quickly made a name for himself in Parisian artistic circles with his canvas works, was exhibited in 1990 at Gallery 45 in Berlin, and participated in the Graffiti Paris exhibition, where his work has been presented permanently. His works are among the most important pieces to have been auctioned in the graffiti world.
