AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Oil painting on panel by the Dutch artist Jan van Dam (1857 Leiden-1927 Leiden).
Jan van Dam resided as a young student in Antwerp. He was a pupil of D.L. Kooreman.
He lived and worked most of his life chiefly in Leiden, where after his studies he first worked as a decorative painter and later also as an artist-painter. Jan van Dam mostly painted landscapes, but he also created portraits and still lifes.
He taught, among others, his daughter Christina (Hille Christina) van Dam (born 1884 in Leiden). She, like her father, painted landscapes, portraits and still lifes. In addition to her father's lessons, she also studied at the Academie van BK in The Hague.
Jan van Dam is also called the forerunner of the Leiden School. He sought subjects to paint all around the Leiden area and, in doing so, was truly a regional painter who fixed on canvas what he saw.
The work is in good condition and signed by the artist in the lower right. Offered in an attractive gilded wooden frame.
A beautiful collectible for enthusiasts of Classical Dutch art.
Dimensions with frame: 42 x 57 x 3.5 cm. Dimensions without frame: 34 x 49 cm.
The painting will be carefully packaged and insured for shipping with tracking.
