With this square-format print (40x40 cm), Popsan invites us to a timeless, joyful celebration. The artist reinterprets the classic figures of Edo-period Japanese prints to plunge them into a scene of unabashed camaraderie that is decidedly offbeat.

The composition brings together three traditional archetypes: a samurai with a proud bearing, a merchant with a jovial smile, and an elegant geisha. Abandoning the discreet refinement of sake cups, the three companions toast merrily ("Kanpai!") with monumental beer mugs overflowing with foam. Their faces, marked by the exuberance of the moment, convey a positive and unifying energy. The Katakana lettering at the top right (メドサン) signs this composition in pure tradition of vintage cartouches, sealing the bridge between classical art and pop culture.
