Description from the seller
UNIQUE EDITION 1/1 — THERE IS ONLY ONE COPY IN THE WORLD.
With this square-format print (40x40 cm), Popsan offers us a dreamlike and enchanting vision of the traditional Japanese woman. Moving away from blunt nods to Western pop culture, the artist here chooses the path of magical realism and pure visual poetry.
The composition presents itself as a Bijin-ga (portrait of a beautiful woman) of great purity. A geisha with an elevated bearing, dressed in a sumptuous kimono with pine (matsu), chrysanthemum, and Japanese crane (tsuru) motifs, gazes peacefully into the distance. The magic operates at the heart of the garment: the majestic white birds with red crowns come to life, literally detach from the fabric and take flight, materializing an ethereal link between textile craftsmanship and the living world. Mysterious threads still seem to connect them to the silk. The upper right cartouche, bearing the familiar signature (メドサン), closes this cross‑world composition.
A subtle, meditative piece, deeply elegant, ideal for lovers of Asian art seeking a contemporary work infused with grace and folklore.

About the Atelier:
L'Atelier Joconde is a hub of artists united around a living and plural contemporary creation. Operating both as collective creation and in individual endeavors, Atelier Joconde is a family-led venture guided by a committed management team. Le Yack, contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic influences. Alongside him, Popsan, the official alter-ego dedicated to art of Japanese inspiration, signs here a work of great poetry (while his second artistic identity, Medsan, is devoted to medical surrealism projects). Finally, Neo Pablo follows a more instinctive pursuit, blending abstract art, outsider art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, produced, and followed within the atelier with stringent artistic standards.
Keywords:
Popsan, Atelier Joconde, Le Yack, Geisha, Oiran, Bijin-ga, Japanese cranes, Tsuru, Kimono, Illusion, Poetic surrealism, Japan, Shin-hanga, Magic, Flight, Birds, Giclées mounted on wooden frames, Contemporary art, Design decoration, Square format.
