Donald Lipski was born in 1947 in Chicago, Illinois, and lives and works in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He received his BA from the University of Wisconsin and his MFA in 1973 from the Cranbrook Academy of Art. His solo exhibitions include the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York; The Brooklyn Museum, New York; P.S. 1, Long Island City, New York; Capp Street Project, San Francisco, California; The Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.; Miami Art Museum, Miami, Florida; American Academy, Rome, Italy; and the Bawag Foundation, Vienna, Austria. Lipski’s group exhibitions include the Whitney Biennial, Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; The New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York; Cranbrook Academy of Art Museum, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan; Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota; and the Hudson Museum, Yonkers, New York. His works have been acquired by private and museum collections, including the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney, the Menil Collection, the Brooklyn Museum, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago and the Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles (MOCA).
