Italian school (XVIII) - Pastorelli con gregge

Oil painting on canvas without a frame depicting Pastoral scenes with a flock of sheep, goats, and Roman ruins. The painting, which came from a private Ligurian collection with no attribution, after restoration was attributed by several antique dealers to Philipp Peter Roos called Rosa da Tivoli (Frankfurt on the Main, 1657 – Rome, 1706). Size: 63.7 × 47.5 cm. We can attribute it to the Flemish painter who traveled to Italy and frequented Giacinto Brandi's workshop, marrying his daughter. After a series of views of the Roman countryside, he began painting animals according to the fashion of the time. He had a prolific and monotonous production in subjects, but not in style, always of great formal correctness.
