Pancho Porto, Kids with, a 2022 bronze and steel sculpture from Spain, edition 19-25, measuring 25 cm wide by 14 cm high by 8 cm deep and weighing 1 kg, signed by hand.
Description from the seller
Bronze and steel sculpture by the Spanish sculptor Pancho Porto, edition of 25 numbered and signed copies.
Pancho Porto (Santiago de Compostela, 1988) began his training in artistic cabinetmaking at the Antonio Failde center in Ourense. At this school he first encountered disciplines such as carving, drawing, and modeling, and, most importantly, the hands-on workshop work.
Later he enrolled in the Mestre Mateo School of Arts and Crafts in Santiago de Compostela, where he studied what will later be his main discipline: sculpture. It is at this school that he already works with materials that will be fundamental in his work, such as steel or clay. Parallel to this, Porto continues his personal training and investigates other materials such as bronze or resins and their multiple uses and finishes.
After this initial training phase, he decided to set up his studio on the banks of the Sarela river, very close to where he was born. It is here that he begins his particular theoretical and practical exploration of the relationship between the materials used in each work and the message they convey. This leads him to seek new proposals when it comes to communicating and narrating his story. Since then, this has been the usual tone of his works, endowing the whole body of his work with complexity and depth, with themes that touch both the social sphere and his personal experiences.
