Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Kosmos, first edition by Ida G.M. Gerhardt, notably supplemented with handwritten poems to complete the poetry after publication, in Dutch, hardback with dust jacket, published in 1940 by N.V. Uitgeverij v/h C.A. Mees, 45 pages, 21 x 14 cm, in very good condition.
Description from the seller
Notable 'supplemented' first edition of this debut by one of the most celebrated poets of the Low Countries.
Condition: Originally linen with a cloth dust jacket. The dust jacket slightly faded but very good for its age. Contents excellent.
What is remarkable are the added handwritten poems to keep the poetry collection complete after publication. Thus we find after the title page "Kinderliedje" from 1942. For the contents we find Het Water (1&2), after the colophon we also find Schepen and Naar den Winter (1941).
Not only the manner of adding but also the handwriting is strikingly neat.
Ida Gardina Margaretha Gerhardt (Gorinchem, May 11, 1905 – Warnsveld, August 15, 1997) was a Dutch poetess and classical scholar. She also translated literature from Latin and Hebrew, including the psalm translation from 1972, which three years later was also included in the Willibrord translation.
