Description from the seller
Shigeru Hasegawa (Japan, 1963) worked in March and April 2025 in the guest studio at the Van GoghHuis. Hasegawa created paintings here based on the woodcuts by Utagawa Hiroshige, who also greatly inspired Vincent van Gogh.
Shigeru Hasegawa completed his master's degree in 1988 at Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music and moved to Germany in 1989. He later studied at De Ateliers in Amsterdam, where Marlene Dumas also studied. Until 2004 he commuted between Japan and Europe. Recently he exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo and in 2026 at the Toyota Municipal Museum of Art in Nagoya.
