Ivan Thiele, Russo-French painter, born in Saint Petersburg in 1877, died in 1948. Active and then naturalized in France. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Saint Petersburg, then settled in Paris, where he studied under J.-P. Laurens, G. Courtois, and R. Collin. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français in Paris from 1910, earning an honorable mention the same year and a silver medal in 1941.
