Description from the seller
A superb mid-20th century parure (table linen set) from the prestigious Collection Privée – Broderie d’Art, comprising an elegant Luxeuil lace cotton tablecloth accompanied by twelve matching napkins, each measuring 40 × 40 cm. The ensemble embodies timeless refinement and exceptional craftsmanship.
Luxeuil lace is a distinguished form of decorative needle lace, traditionally worked in monochrome tones and inspired by delicate floral motifs. Its characteristic technique combines mechanically produced lace outlines with intricate hand-executed filling stitches, created entirely with needle and thread.
This exquisite rare set originates from the château collection acquired from an elderly French couple, from whom several remarkable heirloom textiles were sourced. Representing the heritage of four generations of fine household linen, these treasured pieces are now being entrusted to a new generation to admire, preserve, and cherish once again.
Carefully preserved in its original presentation box since the late 1950s, the set has never previously been displayed and is being presented for the very first time.
Both the tablecloth and the twelve matching napkins remain in immaculate mint condition.
A rare and graceful heirloom, this exceptional ensemble would make a magnificent wedding gift or dowry piece, embodying elegance, heritage, and the enduring artistry of fine French decorative linen.
