Description from the seller
Simona Fumagalli was born in Monza in 1967. After graduating from the state art high school in Bergamo, she resumed her studies in the artistic field at the atelier of Master Massimo Bollani, with a path that gradually distances itself from classical figurative painting. This journey centers on a search for style, technique and an evolving synthesis. The starting point is always the concrete—the figure, the object, the animal—but there is the will and the need to move away from it, to go beyond appearance, beyond first sight, to simplify the image by grasping its essential aspects in order to then subvert them. The image presents itself powerfully in its close-up framing, as if it were about to emerge from the canvas, and it feels vital thanks to an execution rooted in instinct and passion. The stylistic signature is defined by the looseness of the brushstroke that leaves no room for reconsideration, by the chromatic contrasts that in strong harmony animate the subject, and by a lively expressiveness. Spontaneity, speed, immediacy of vision and gesture belong to the artist who is able to express and communicate them with great coherence. In 2007 she held her first solo exhibition and subsequently participated in several exhibition projects, earning awards and recognitions. She lives and works in Lomagna, in the province of Lecco.
