Nyaba Léon OUÉDRAOGO (born in 1978)

Nyaba Léon Ouédraogo is a Burkinabé photographer born in 1978. Sharing his life between Paris and West Africa, he has since the early 2000s developed an engaged body of work at the crossroads of documentary and aesthetic research. Through striking series such as The Copper Hell, he explores social realities, colonial memories and the transformations of the African continent. Winner of the European Union prize at the Bamako Encounters in 2011 and a finalist for the prestigious Pictet Prize, his work is regularly shown in international institutions such as the Musée du Quai Branly.
