The work offers the enthusiast excellent documentation on Paris and the daily life of Parisians in 1852. A year when a new constitution of France was voted. Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte is prince-president, a Senate of dignitaries emanating from the president is established, and the importance (300 deputies instead of 750) and the role of the Legislative Body are reduced. A plebiscite approves the restoration of the Empire (7,824,189 votes to 253,145). On December 2, Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte makes a solemn entry into Paris, who takes the name Napoleon III.
