Handsome and very attractive illustrated edition of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's tragic play Faust. Translated by Abraham Hayward, and beautifully illustrated with 31 tissue-guarded colour plates including frontispiece by the celebrated Hungarian-American illustrator Willy Pogany (This popular edition, often translated by Abraham Hayward, showcased Pogany's Art Nouveau style with mythical creatures, making it a highly sought-after art book).
Published by Hutchinson & Co., London, 1908. Publishers’ original red boards, with gilt lettering on upper cover, and spine. Top page edges gilt.

The book is beautifully bound, designed and illustrated. Firm and well-bound copy. External covers are clean and in nice shape, with light wear to corners, and to head and foot of spine. Internally; the book is in very good condition. Lovely presentation label dated 1913 on inside front cover page. Pages are clean, with occasional marks on the margin of few pages. Text is fresh, and plates are bright and in fine condition (Excellent Copy) (Please see pictures).
