A single brass lamp from Italy dating to 1930–1940, in Art Nouveau design, measuring 44 cm high, 17 cm wide and 19 cm deep, in good used condition and in working order.
Description from the seller
Splendid vintage piece, entirely original, a perfect example of European lighting design bridging the 1930s and 1940s.
The style of this lamp reflects the transition between the geometric elegance of Art Deco and the practicality of the early 20th century Functionalism (often nowadays associated with Industrial or Ministerial style).
• The 30s/40s in detail: The structure features clean yet sinuous lines. The splendid stepped circular base (typical of Deco aesthetics) provides visual and structural stability, while the 'swan neck' stem and the slender arm recall work and reading models used in offices and gentleman’s studies of the era.
• Noble Materials: The contrast between the solidity of the bronze base, the warm luster of the patinated brass stem, and the warmth of the turned wood insert tells of the period’s high craftsmanship, where aesthetics was never separated from durability.
• Era Functionality: The characteristic circular hinge with a butterfly screw allowed (and still allows) adjusting the height and tilt of the light point, a technical detail that at the time represented the forefront of domestic and professional comfort.
A lamp of great character, capable of asserting itself as a focal design piece in any modern, industrial, or classic setting.
