AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

COHIBA is a 70 x 100 cm painting by Flavia Delgado inspired by Cuban iconography, tobacco culture, and the visual imagination of old Caribbean labels and advertisements.

The work depicts a bundle of Cohiba cigars tied with a red rope against a warm, luminous background that evokes the atmosphere of Havana. The composition transforms a everyday object into a symbolic image charged with visual identity, tradition, and character.

Flavia Delgado blends influences from Pop Art, classic comics, and vintage editorial illustration, evoking the old commercial lithographs and mid-20th-century tourist posters. The bold black lines and the intense palette in orange, yellow, green, and black provide graphic strength and a strong visual presence. The painting plays with the contrast between the repetitive geometry of the cigars and the simplified tropical background, where architectural and botanical references place the scene within the Cuban imaginary. The work conveys warmth, nostalgia, and a carefully synthesized retro aesthetic.

The use of a large typographic title and the frontal composition recall old promotional covers and classic editorial designs, while the manual treatment of the lines preserves a painterly and contemporary character.

COHIBA combines tradition, graphic design, and vintage aesthetics in a piece conceived to bring personality, color, and a cinematic air to the space.

Seller's Story

I present a pictorial work line strongly linked to illustration and artistic poster design. My works combine the language of classic poster art with the plastic freedom of contemporary painting: flat colors, defined contours, direct scenes, and a clear narrative sense. My work dialogues with the tradition of 20th-century poster art, especially with the universe of Art Deco and European and North American advertising posters, where authors like A. M.. Cassandre, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Leonetto Cappiello used synthetic imagery and color for visual impact. There are also affinities with European comic graphics and the clear line, from Hergé to modern editorial illustration. In my paintings, I depict interiors, architectures, figures, and travel scenes—such as roads, vintage cars, or landscapes—approached from a graphic perspective reminiscent of posters and illustrated books, but transferred to the realm of painting on paper and canvas. I aim for each image to function like a frame or a narrative poster, capable of suggesting a broader story without needing to explain it.
