AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

THE WARRIOR is a 70 x 100 cm painting by Flavia Delgado inspired by the imagery of the Old West, historical illustrations, and the symbolic strength of ancestral warrior figures.

The work depicts an Indigenous warrior mounted on horseback, paused in a scene of apparent calm and contemplation. The composition conveys dignity, resilience, and a connection with nature, transforming the figure into a symbol of strength and cultural memory.

Flavia Delgado blends influences from pop art, classic comics, and vintage editorial illustration, evoking old illustrated novels, cinematic posters, and mid-20th-century graphic covers. The bold black outlines and the intense earth-tone palette with red, blue, and cream provide a strong visual presence and a cinematic feel.

The graphic simplification of forms and the contrast between flat color areas and linear details generate a powerful, timeless aesthetic. The character appears almost isolated within the landscape, reinforcing the sense of silence, introspection, and permanence. The piece does not seek documentary representation but a visual reinterpretation loaded with symbolism and retro-contemporary aesthetics. The horse and the human figure integrate in a scene of great compositional balance and strong graphic impact.

THE WARRIOR combines visual narrative, graphic nostalgia, and contemporary sensibility in a work conceived to bring character, intensity, and an iconic presence to the space.

Seller's Story

I present a pictorial work line strongly linked to illustration and artistic poster design. My works combine the language of classic poster art with the plastic freedom of contemporary painting: flat colors, defined contours, direct scenes, and a clear narrative sense. My work dialogues with the tradition of 20th-century poster art, especially with the universe of Art Deco and European and North American advertising posters, where authors like A. M.. Cassandre, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Leonetto Cappiello used synthetic imagery and color for visual impact. There are also affinities with European comic graphics and the clear line, from Hergé to modern editorial illustration. In my paintings, I depict interiors, architectures, figures, and travel scenes—such as roads, vintage cars, or landscapes—approached from a graphic perspective reminiscent of posters and illustrated books, but transferred to the realm of painting on paper and canvas. I aim for each image to function like a frame or a narrative poster, capable of suggesting a broader story without needing to explain it.
