BLADE (Steven Ogburn, Bronx, New York) is considered one of the most influential pioneers in the history of graffiti. Since the start of his career in 1972, he has gained international recognition with his iconic ‘whole-car, fully painted metro car,’ of which he is estimated to have completed more than 5,000.

His work is characterized by dynamic compositions, overlapping 3D letters, vibrant color fields, and the distinctive visual language of the 1970s graffiti scene. In 1981 he exhibited his first canvas works during a European exhibition, and in 2005 he appeared as the first living artist since Andy Warhol on the cover of Sotheby’s catalog.
