AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

A painting by the painter Giovanni Bartolena is proposed. Livorno 1886-Livorno 1942. Oil on pressed cardboard measuring 30x40 cm, the painting surface only.
Good general condition, no restorations, slight warp to the base of the support, due to time. No color losses are evident, as the colors have remained bright despite the period of production. The back bears the effigy of art galleries.
It is accompanied by a handmade frame not contemporaneous, to be considered a courtesy; no claims due to transport will be accepted and it does not affect the purchase at auction. A careful packaging and trackable shipment are guaranteed.
Giovanni Bartolena learned his first notions of painting from his uncle, who largely dedicated himself to painting battle scenes and portraits. His debut dates to 1892 in Florence, where he had moved and where he frequented the Michelangelo Café, in the company of notable artists of the time. After participating in the Triennale of Turin, he decided to make painting his official work. From 1919, after traveling, he settles permanently in Livorno and begins to produce still lifes, vases of flowers, landscapes. In 1930 he participated in the Venice Biennale, the following year in the Rome Quadriennale.
