Description from the seller
MiLo – “Silent Fault”
A restrained monochrome abstraction by Amsterdam-based artist MiLo (1976).
Built almost entirely from layered whites, greys, and subtle mineral tones, Silent Fault focuses on texture, relief, and material presence rather than gesture or color contrast. Running across the surface is a raised tactile band composed of dried acrylic paint fragments embedded into the canvas, creating a physical interruption that recalls a horizon, geological fault line, or eroded landscape formation.
The surface contains scratches, uneven textures, and quiet traces of earlier movements beneath the paint, giving the work an aged and weathered appearance. Depending on the orientation, the composition can suggest a distant horizon, sediment layers, or a suspended divide within an otherwise calm field.
Minimal in palette yet rich in material detail, the painting shifts subtly with changing light, revealing relief, depth, and surface variations that become more visible up close. The work balances stillness and tension, combining contemporary abstraction with references to erosion, architecture, and geological time.
The painting can be hung both vertically and horizontally.
The painting will be shipped rolled in a sturdy tube or box. A certificate of authenticity is included. The canvas can easily be stretched or framed by a local framer.
About the Artist
MiLo (1976) is an Amsterdam-based contemporary artist known for expressive abstract and semi-figurative works that balance spontaneity with structure. His practice combines influences from action painting, urban textures, modernist abstraction, and intuitive mark-making.
Over the years, his works have found their way into private collections, hotels, restaurants, and offices across Europe, the United States, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Working primarily with acrylics, layered surfaces, and raw gestures, MiLo creates paintings that focus on rhythm, material, erosion, and emotional atmosphere rather than fixed narratives.
