Antique assembled necklace with a chatelaine element and a medallion in silver with niello and gilded details, featuring a 43.5 cm 835 silver chain and a total weight of 32.419 g, in reasonable condition with visible wear and no laboratory report.
Description from the seller
Antique assembled choker with a chatelaine element and pendant in silver with niello and gilded details.
The lower part consists of an elongated diamond-shaped chatelaine element with niello and gilded central pieces. To it hangs a pendant with on both sides a representation of doves of peace within a leaf border.
The pendant can be opened. The two inner clasps are still present, so something can still be placed inside.
One side of the pendant is very well preserved. The other side shows clearer wear to the niello decoration. Probably this is the side that had more contact with clothing during wear.
The chatelaine element and the hanging eye of the pendant have been stamped with the engraved V. This is a Dutch re-assay that was used before 1953.
The wide jasseron chain has been separately assayed with the Dutch sword 835. Due to the different marks and the way the piece is constructed, this is a assembled piece of jewelry: an older chatelaine element with pendant, later adapted into a necklace with a silver chain.
