Sonia Anton's original 56×56 cm abstract acrylic painting The Littoral, hand signed, from 2020+, stretched on a wooden frame and ready to hang.
Description from the seller
A meditative square composition built entirely from horizontal bands of hand-applied acrylic, each mark laid down with deliberate, rhythmic brushwork. The painting moves through deep ocean blues and luminous teals before a single streak of warm ochre cuts across the canvas like a waterline at golden hour. Below it, the palette shifts into the cooler, earthier tones of sand and sediment. From a distance it reads as seascape. Up close it becomes something more intimate, a record of time, repetition, and quiet intention. The mosaic-like surface rewards close viewing, catching the light differently depending on the angle.
I painted this thinking about thresholds, the places where one world ends and another begins. The ochre line almost painted itself. I kept coming back to it and realising it was the heartbeat of the whole piece.
Sonia Anton is a Romanian-Australian artist whose passion for painting was shaped from an early age, growing up alongside her mother, a celebrated artist whose work left a lasting impression. Having lived across the world from Australia to Mexico and in different continents, Sonia brings a richness of experience and perspective to every canvas. Surrounded by creativity and self-expression from childhood, she naturally found her own voice through paint and colour. Her work is driven by a deep love of colour, and a more recent fascination with texture, which she explores with growing boldness and confidence. Each piece is an act of genuine self-expression, an invitation to feel rather than simply observe.
