Description from the seller
The object pictured is an antique three-part folding mirror (triptych travel mirror) from the turn of the century era (approx. 1900–1920).
Here is a detailed description based on the photos:
Front side and decoration
• Illustrations: The backsides of the three mirror elements are decorated with colorful, romantic scenes in the Belle Époque style.
• Motifs: Depicted are ladies in elegant blue and red dresses in a garden or forest landscape, sometimes accompanied by cupids (putti). One scene shows a lady at a mailbox labeled “Poste d'Amour.”
• Origin: At the bottom edge of the pictures is the signature “P. C. PARIS,” indicating French manufacture or distribution there.
Mirrors and housing
• Mirror surfaces: The inner side (image_2.png) reveals three rectangular mirror panes. They show age-related patina with characteristic dark oxidation spots and blind spots in the glass.
• Frame construction: The mirrors are set in metal frames (likely nickeled brass or sheet metal) connected by hinges.
• Hanging: At the top there is a fine metal chain that allows hanging the mirror on a wall when unfolded.
Condition and use
• Functionality: The object can be compactly folded thanks to the hinges, which originally made it an ideal travel utensil.
• Condition: The lithographic images on the back (image.png) appear well preserved and colorful, while the mirror side (image_2.png) shows clear, authentic signs of aging.
