Description from the seller

A very beautiful collection set published by M. Moleiro Editor, devoted to the Tacuinum Sanitatis, one of the most famous medieval manuscripts dedicated to health, nutrition, lifestyle, and natural remedies.

The original is kept at the Bibliothèque nationale de France, in Paris, under shelfmark Latin 9333. The manuscript is generally linked to the Rhineland, in the mid-15th century. It is a medieval work inspired by the Arabic medical treatise by Ibn Butlan, devoted to rules of living that promote health.

This manuscript is particularly valued for its numerous miniatures depicting daily life in the Middle Ages: market scenes, food, animals, plants, agricultural work, trades, cooking, care, environment, and life habits.

The Moleiro edition faithfully reproduces the original manuscript in a luxury edition limited to 987 copies. The facsimile comprises 216 pages, in a format of about 35.5 × 22.5 cm, with an ivory leather stamped binding and a commentary volume by Alain Touwaide, Eberhard König, and Carlos Miranda García-Tejedor.

The copy offered here bears the number 315/987, visible on the notarial certificate.
