Description from the seller
MIG's original painting titled REGGAE MAN, acrylic painting and collages on cotton canvas, resin finish, 60 × 50 cm, unique signed piece, made in France in 2024, with certificate of authenticity and sold directly by the artist.
This painting is a vibrant homage to Bob Marley and to the whole reggae universe.
It can be situated as a work inspired by 1970s Jamaican culture, the period when Bob Marley became a global figure. The visual elements (green-yellow-red colors, stylized leaves, mentions such as “Reggae,” “Jamaica,” “One Love”) directly reference the Rastafari movement and Jamaica’s cultural identity.
The painting functions as a narrative collage:
• The partitions and song titles (such as “One Love” or “Is This Love”) evoke his musical heritage.
• The various images of Marley, on stage or smiling, show both the engaged artist and the charismatic man.
• The presence of The Wailers recalls his beginnings and the importance of collaboration in his career.
I explore a rich visual universe where paintings, sculptures and mixed media mingle. My work moves between realism and impressionism, drawing inspiration from POP ART and STREET ART.
My works, graphic in nature, always leave room for interpretation, inviting the viewer to project their own vision onto them. Behind my creations lies a subtly embedded message, which everyone is free to discover in their own way.
Through this singular and expressive approach, I offer a contemporary work that engages, surprises and invites reflection. A dialogue between forms, colors and emotions, where art becomes a universal language.
Most of my sculptures and paintings are created in my studio in the eastern part of Paris.
