It looks as if something delicate suddenly gave way. A fine connection that once carried something has begun to tremble – stretched, stressed, perhaps held for too long. The lines run across the surface like traces of a moment that cannot be undone.

Red breaks in like a feeling that can no longer be hidden. It is not only pain, but also expression – a flare of what happens inside when something tears or changes. The black resists, tries to organize, to connect, yet nothing remains completely calm.

And yet there remains this thread. Vulnerable, perhaps damaged, but still present. It tells of what was and of what, in spite of everything, persists.

Christoph Prein is an Austrian artist known for his abstract and contemporary works, created mainly with acrylic paints.
