"She Who Drives" is an original mixed media work on canvas created in 2022 by Romanian contemporary artist Corina Dinu. Fragments of vintage magazine photographs are embedded into a luminous grid of golden cells against a deep black, glitter-dusted ground — together composing the image of a woman at the wheel of a classic car, sovereign and unhurried, moving through a world gilded by memory.
Acrylic paint, stained glass paint and gold leaf flow freely across the surface — spilling between frames, dripping beyond borders — because a woman like this was never meant to be contained. Explosions of magenta and emerald interrupt the golden silence, while the black-and-white photographs anchor her in a time that feels both distant and achingly familiar.
This is a portrait without a face. A journey without a destination. A woman in full control.
