AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Sapphic -02- (n.703)
The dimensions are: 80.00 cm x 60.00 cm x 1.20 cm
Acrylics and epoxy resin on OSB - Oriented Strand Board (mixed media)
Unframed; ready to be hung

This work is made on a panel of OSB (Oriented Strand Board) on which I applied layers of acrylics and resin, leaving the wooden planks that compose it clearly visible.

This painting captures an intimate and delicate moment between two women kissing, expressed through a tactile painterly style. The faces, almost fused into one another, are rendered with soft, blended brushstrokes, creating a sense of dreaminess and evanescence. The colors, predominantly in shades of pink, blue and white, blend harmoniously, helping to create a sweet and romantic atmosphere.

The surface of the painting shows wrinkling and cracks that add depth and visual interest, giving the work a quasi-sculptural look. The focus is on the faces and the kiss gesture, leaving the background undefined and abstract. The work conveys a sense of tenderness and emotional connection, inviting the viewer to reflect on the beauty and intimacy of love.

Born in 1974 I am self-taught.

After an initial period devoted to sculpture there was a long stop of almost twenty years. Since December 2014 I resumed with the "two dimensions" for reasons of time and space, leaving sculpture aside and dedicating myself to acrylic paintings.

I love painting abstract landscapes but recently I have been pushing myself to paint faces of people both imaginary and real.

For me painting is to "freeze time" in that exact moment; a painting of mine is often a faded memory and thus my works are "consumed, eroded by time". Sometimes the subjects of my paintings are street views of walls also eroded by time, with moss and mushrooms that – over time – grow on the surface.
The inexorable passage of time is the main theme of my works.

Coming from a beautiful experience with clay manipulation, I love sculpture, the third dimension, the sense of touch, and my paintings are often characterized by reliefs that are perceptible to both touch and sight.

Recently, after several years in which my works were made from little pieces of recycled paper forming figures, I am pushing myself to explore Optical Art where I use painted wooden discs arranged in lines and grids with mathematical rigor that up close seem to form a colorful abstract painting but from a distance a portrait emerges from the many painted wooden discs.

Violence against women is a theme that characterizes almost all of my works when I reproduce female faces, precisely to give them a voice when they lack the strength or courage to report that they are not their partner’s dolls and cannot be mistreated or worse, victims of violence.
