Stephen Wiltshire MBE (British, born 1974) is one of the world’s best-known contemporary artists, whose extraordinary memory and photographic perception make him a “human camera” phenomenon. Diagnosed with autism at age three and initially nonverbal, he turned to drawing early as a means of expression. Renowned for precise, memory-based city panoramas from a single glance (often from a helicopter), he has captured metropolises such as London, New York, and Tokyo – including a 13-foot panorama of Canary Wharf to Tower Bridge (2007). His works adorn museums worldwide; he received the MBE in 2006 and runs a gallery in London. Wiltshire sold his first work at the age of eight and embodies the Savant talent in art.
