An ancient fireplace chain, historically also known in English as an adjustable fireplace chain or trammel, a hand-forged wrought-iron kitchen tool. This utensil was hung inside the large domestic hearth, usually hooked to a beam or to a fireplace crane. Its main function was to regulate the distance between the cauldron or pot and the flames beneath. The large saw teeth allow moving the lower hook to different heights, raising or lowering the container; one could easily control the cooking temperature of the foods, ranging from rapid boiling to slow cooking.

Cremagliera da camino antica chiamata storicamente anche  catena da camino regolabile o trammel in inglese, un antico strumento da cucina forgiato a mano in ferro battuto. Questo utensile veniva appeso all'interno del grande focolare domestico, solitamente agganciato a una trave o a una gru da camino. La sua funzione principale era quella di regolare la distanza tra il calderone o la pentola e le fiamme sottostanti. I grandi denti a sega permettono di spostare il gancio inferiore a diverse altezze, alzando o abbassando il contenitore, si poteva facilmente controllare la temperatura di cottura dei cibi, passando da una bollitura rapida a una cottura lenta.
