Description from the seller
"Golden Light" stands in the tradition of European landscape painting, but reinterprets the natural motif in the spirit of modernity. It combines realism and abstraction, matter and light, as well as classical symbolism and contemporary expressive forms. The work can be stylistically located between symbolic Expressionism and modern nature abstraction.
The painting's style shows a mix of impasto application and a metallic surface effect. This combination recalls the tradition of using gold in art, as it played a central role in Byzantine iconography and later in Gustav Klimt. The gold is not understood here as ornament, but as a bearer of light and atmosphere. The sculptural texture of birch bark and the shifting foliage create a balance between representational depiction and painterly abstraction.
"Golden Light" relates to trends in contemporary landscape painting that no longer merely depict nature but understand it as an experience of light, color, and materiality. The work thus connects a traditional visual language with a modern sensitivity to surfaces and light effects, which has gained increasing significance in painting since the second half of the 20th century.
