A bit of history:
"Winged horse and divine creature of Greek mythology, Pegasus, struck forth a spring with a single hoof. Named Hippocrene, it is located on Mount Helicon in Greece. The nine Muses, daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne, goddess of memory, would come there to drink. The narrative flair of Pierre Marie is explained by the line and the composition. His drawing is an allegory of the emergence of an idea and tells this wonderful story. It features a Pegasus with radiant wings, muses dancing in a farandole in a joyful and fantastical setting, as earthly as it is comic".
