Description from the seller

The Dutch cigar box dates from the 1940s or 1950s, when the tobacco industry was rapidly developing in the Netherlands, and retro styling referenced traditional craftsmanship. The item represents the postwar period, in which home desk humidors styled after older, traditional boxes became popular. The dark wood case is adorned with brass corner fittings and a central plaque bearing the inscription 'Sigaren', underscoring its Dutch origin. Such items were a staple of living rooms and elegant desks in the mid-20th century, serving as a practical humidor as well as interior decoration.
