Description from the seller
Mr. Natural's 719th Meditation
This three-part comic strip was originally created by Robert Crumb for his first Mr. Natural comic book (Mr. Natural #1, Apex, 1970). In plans to reuse the story Mr. Natural’s 719th Meditation, it was initially considered to stack the three pages vertically and surround them with a Tibetan-Buddhist thangka frame (a border of fabric swaths with patterns in different colors, with wooden rods above and below). However, this concept was not developed further.
Subsequently, several alternative compositions were explored. Ultimately a layout was chosen in which the panels are arranged in a 6 by 6 grid, a setup proposed by Crumb himself. After this rearrangement Crumb prepared a detailed color guide, a process that took considerable time. Parallel to that, the supplied black-and-white line drawings were technically updated.
The work is printed in a run of 300 on Somerset Velvet archival paper 255 gsm, with a size of 50.8 x 61 cm. All copies are hand-numbered.
The poster is shipped in the original hard tube in which the poster was originally shipped from the USA to the Netherlands.
