SKE: Gainsbourg Vs 500Fr - Aluminium, a 3 mm thick aluminium sculpture, 30 × 16 × 5 cm, numbered 27/100 with a certificate of authenticity and unique holographic number, dated 2025, France, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
- Signed/numbered artwork, supplied with a certificate of authenticity and a unique holographic number.
- Description: Aluminum billet sculpture 3mm thick, satin varnish finish anti-scratch/UV.
- The folded billet stands upright and gives the impression of floating — superb effect guaranteed.
- Directly from the studio, never exhibited, artwork in perfect condition!
- Number 27/100.
- As the folds are done by hand, you may notice a slight difference from the presentation photo; this is inherent to the artisanal manufacturing process and makes your copy unique.
- On March 11, 1984, Serge Gainsbourg burned a 500-franc bill live on television. This famous provocation was intended to alert public opinion to the tax pressure he claimed to be a victim of. Appreciating this artist for his career, his vision, and his positions, I wish to pay homage to him today through this work.
- BIO ARTIST:
SKE is a self-taught French artist, a versatile creator who grew up in the culture of the 80s/90s, inspiring a large majority of his artistic works.
He continually explores new techniques: acrylic painting, collage, stencil, graffiti, urban installations, and digital art. His dynamic, expressive compositions, often with double meanings, blend the raw energy of street art with the visual impact of pop art.
After an exceptional 2025, SKE's market value has risen noticeably. Winner of the first prize at the Urban Master competition (2023), then named Revelation of the Year at the Color Jam Challenge (2025).
SKE was selected as "Artist of the Month" by the Opulence Gallery in October, and he also benefited from a feature in an American art magazine confirming his international recognition.
His works have already been exhibited in major venues in Europe, the United States, and Asia, consolidating his place on the contemporary art scene. In parallel, SKE also makes his mark in the digital art market, a major trend of the past two years, strengthening the appeal of his creations to collectors.
Icons of popular culture, bold graphics, and texture play characterize a style that is now indispensable.
SKE is, without a doubt, an artist to follow, to start or enrich a collection with rising value.
Awarded & Renowned Artist – Pop Art & Contemporary Street Art
A UNIVERSE BETWEEN HERITAGE AND MODERNITY SKE's work sits within a prestigious lineage. His line reveals the visual efficiency of Keith Haring and Andy Warhol, while incorporating the subversion of Banksy or the pioneer Blek le Rat. His works forge a bridge between eras: they reinterpret the classics, not hesitating to twist Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring, Hokusai’s The Great Wave, or Picasso’s deconstructed forms to confront them with a modern urban aesthetic close to Mr Brainwash or Kaws.
POP CULTURE & NOSTALGIA Drawing from the collective imagination, SKE manipulates icons from our childhood. He stages Disney’s universe with figures such as Mickey or Pinocchio, and Scrooge McDuck’s symbolic greed. The influence of gaming, comics, and graphic novels is omnipresent: from Nintendo’s universe and the legendary Game Boy, to Pokémon creatures (Pikachu, Charizard, Ash), through Marvel superheroes. SKE crystallizes these memories in the manner of Daniel Arsham or Takashi Murakami.
LUXURY, HYPE & CONSUMER SOCIETY In a style that sometimes recalls Alec Monopoly, the artist plays with codes of success and materialism. The Dollar symbol sits beside luxury and fashion logos. His canvases capture the “Hype” aesthetic: you’ll encounter the sneaker world (Nike Air Jordan, Adidas, Off-White) and haute couture (Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Louboutin). He also incorporates automotive adrenaline (Ferrari, Porsche, Bugatti, AMG) and precision watchmaking (Rolex, Tag Heuer), not to mention mass-consumption icons like Coca-Cola. It is vibrant art, with textured finishes that sometimes evoke the glossy finish of Jeff Koons or the facets of Richard Orlinski.
This artwork is ideal for enriching a collection or adding a dynamic touch to your interior.
