Description

With “Run,” Sonny Insinna creates a monumental work that transforms movement into an emotional and symbolic force.

The horse bursts into the pictorial space with energy and tension, like an ancestral presence suspended between reality and vision. The figure, built through layers of oil and nervous marks of charcoal, seems to dissolve in the speed of the gallop itself, creating an image in constant flux.

It is not simply a representation of a moving animal: “Run” becomes a metaphor for the life trigger, the instinct of survival, and the universal desire for freedom.

The mane dragged by the wind amplifies the dynamics of the composition and generates a strong sense of crossing, while the sparse and atmospheric background eliminates any precise reference to space and time, transforming the scene into a mental and archetypal dimension.

The work’s chromatic essentiality — dominated by deep blacks, smoky grays, and cool transparencies — reinforces the sense of suspension and emotional intensity. The horse thus appears as a primordial symbol: an indomitable force that continues to resist beyond any limit or constraint.

Made with oil and charcoal on canvas, the work blends anatomical rigor with contemporary painterly gesture, creating a living, tactile, and deeply expressive surface.

With its monumental dimensions of 210 × 120 cm, this piece has a commanding presence and is intended for contemporary collections and environments that value works with strong visual and conceptual impact.
