ELGIN Pocket Watch Grade 313 – American Precision (c. 1907)
High-end pocket watch manufactured by Elgin National Watch Co. (U.S.) with serial number 12904803. This Grade 313 movement, size 18s, features 17 jewels and is designed to high-precision standards. It incorporates a Safety Pinion to protect the train and a micrometric regulator for fine adjustments. Its most relevant technical feature is the Lever Set system: setting the time is done via a mechanical lever (pull) located at 5 o'clock, accessible only after unscrewing the front bezel.
Aesthetic Analysis and Exterior:
Case: Manufactured by Wadsworth, Referee model, in gold-filled (Gold Filled) with original 20-year guarantee. It presents a screw-on cap design that enhances protection of the mechanism. The back is decorated with an elaborate floral engraving and a central shield for monogram.
Dial: Exceptional white porcelain dial with double sunk (double domed) surface, with black highly legible Arabic numerals and a peripheral minute scale with red numerals.
Hands: Original spade-style hands in blued steel.
