Description from the seller

Magnificent and rare large koumya of the Genoui type / or sbula (straight blade), very well crafted, from the first half of the 20th century. This is a beautiful Moroccan Genoui mounted with an antique blade from a French bayonet, probably an 1874-model known as Gras. The grip resembles goat horn and the sheath is all brass engraved in the style of a Sboula, another type of Moroccan sabre. Sboula means "ear of corn" and refers to the blade’s shape, mid-length, narrow and slightly asymmetrical. Genoui means "Genoese" since these weapons are Italian-inspired for their straight blade. The blade is triangular, very sharp, made of steel, likely from a bayonet. A true hybrid weapon, authentic, typically Moroccan dating from 1875 to 1927 from Morocco.

Total length with sheath: 60 cm
Length without sheath: 58.5 cm
Blade length: 44 cm
