Description from the seller

Luis Enrique González
Pride of the Horse, 2026
Oil on canvas, 41 × 41 cm
Signed (lower right)

Magnificent equine portrait with great presence and elegance. In this work, Luis Enrique González presents us with the head and neck of a beautiful breed horse, captured in an imposing profile against a dark background that dramatically emphasizes its anatomy and nobility.
The artist demonstrates an extraordinary mastery of oil painting, with vibrant realism and exquisite attention to detail: the silky texture of the chestnut coat, the intelligent gleam in the eye, the delicate veins and the perfect braid of the mane. The dramatic lighting, typical of the classical tradition, grants the animal a monumental, almost heroic stature, conveying strength, intelligence, and distinction.
Luis Enrique González has established himself as one of the best realist painters of equestrian subjects of his generation. His horse portraits are highly valued by specialized collectors, stable owners, and lovers of the equestrian world, in both Europe and Latin America.
An artwork of great visual impact and technical quality, ideal to stand out in any Figurative Art collection or for those seeking a piece with character and presence.

Artist Statement — Luis Enrique González

My work is a constant dialogue between light and form, where oil painting becomes a medium to explore the emotional and symbolic depth of reality. I am interested in nature and the human figure not only as visual motifs but as living territories rich with stories, silences, and tensions. Through realism, I seek to reveal what hides in the everyday: fragility, strength, persistence, and beauty manifested in gestures, in matter, and in the spaces we inhabit.

Chiaroscuro is, for me, a tool of thought. Through contrast I find the internal structure of each image, the atmosphere that allows color to breathe and become protagonist. I work with meticulous observation, trying to ensure that every brushstroke preserves the sensitivity of the moment and, at the same time, a permanence that transcends the temporality of the represented object.

My pieces stand at a crossroads between academic tradition and a contemporary perspective, where rigorous technique coexists with a personal expressive quest. I paint because I find in oil a space of revelation: a way to understand the world and at the same time reinvent it through light, texture, and color.
