Original oil painting on panel titled The small wall in Impressionism style, a 2026 portrait, 50 by 40 cm, hand-signed, produced in the Netherlands and sold directly by the artist, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Oil painting on panel 1 cm muspanel
This work is part of my duo-auction, in which I bring together several paintings around calm, vulnerability and the longing to disappear from the world for a moment.
During the auction I will share extra images from my studio on Instagram: details, moments of the process, paint choices and small thoughts about the works. For those who enjoy not only seeing the final result but also the search behind it, there is more to follow via @francienkrieg.
I like to paint portraits of young men and teenagers because in that life stage something special is visible: a vulnerability that the world has not yet hardened. Their faces and bodies carry an uncertainty within them – they are not fully formed yet, but full of promise and possibilities. I am drawn to that in-between moment: no longer a child, not yet a man. In that transition lies a beauty I want to capture, the openness of what can still become and the fragile realization that this stage lasts only briefly.
All series – from self-portraits and aging bodies to young male boxers, women at sunset and intimate scenes with cats – can be found on my website, where you can also read more about my background and motivations:

I work exclusively with high-quality materials: professionally prepared linen or smooth panels, and oil paint of top quality, rich in pigment. Each work is made with care and dedication – meant to endure, not only in material, but also in meaning.
